One aspect provides a first apparatus, e.g. a privacy module of a mobile communications device (UE), configured to generate a random key. The privacy module generates, in response to a Subscribe command originating from a home subscriber server (HSS), a first encryption key from a key of a privacy module of a mobile communication device. The privacy module generates a second encryption key from said first encryption key and a timestamp. A payload of a subscription acknowledgment message from said privacy module is formed by encrypting a random key with said second encryption key. Another aspect provides a second apparatus, e.g. an HSS. The HSS is configured to receive the subscription acknowledgment. The HSS computes a decryption key from a public key of the privacy module, and decrypts a random key from the payload and the decryption key. The random key is then stored in a subscription record of the HSS. |
