1. A facial approximation system for approximating a soft tissue profile of a skull of an unknown subject, the facial approximation system comprising:
an imaging system configured to measure a plurality of selected cephalometric characteristics of the skull of the unknown subject; a database comprising a plurality of skeletal datasets, each skeletal dataset being associated with a known subject and being indicative of a plurality of selected cephalometric characteristics of a skull of the known subject; and a processor in operative communication with the database and the imaging system, wherein the processor is configured to:
compare the plurality of selected cephalometric characteristics of the skull of the unknown subject to the plurality of skeletal datasets; anddetermine the skeletal dataset of the plurality of skeletal datasets that most closely matches the soft tissue profile of the unknown subject.
