PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adaptive gradation correction device and program capable of suppressing unnatural fluctuation in brightness of a subject when applied to gradation correction of a moving image.SOLUTION: An adaptive gradation correction method includes: a gradation correction unit (or gradation correction step) in which an image of each frame contained in a moving image is taken as a correction object and a luminance value of each pixel contained in the image of the correction object is corrected in accordance with the specified gradation correction characteristics; and a characteristic selection unit (or characteristic selection step) in which an absolute value of a difference between the luminance value obtained by applying gradation correction characteristics from a plurality of kinds of gradation correction characteristics different from each other to the luminance value of the image of the correction object and performing gradation correction of them and the luminance value of the image of the previous frame is selected so as to be suppressed and then application of the gradation correction characteristics selected by the gradation correction unit is specified. |
