A tool blade comprising a binding material to bind abrasive particles to a backing strip 12, where the backing strip comprises pre-formed teeth 16. Preferably, the binder and abrasive particles form a cutting edge. Preferably, the pre-formed teeth are triangular and flattened on upper edge. Preferably, the pre-formed teeth are under-sized, and the binder and abrasive particles increase the size of the tooth. Preferably, the abrasive particles are less than 500 microns and the binder is a braze material. The binding material is heated using radiation, preferably a laser. Preferably, the binding and abrasive layer 30 is over-sized and is ground to desired shape 34. Preferably, the abrasive particles and a high bonding matrix are streamed separately onto the backing strip to increase precision. Preferably, the binder is a powder and is streamed separately into the backing strip. A computer-readable medium is used to create a 3D printed tool blade. |
