This endoscope system 1 has: an insertion part 5; an observation window 8 provided to the insertion part 5, for acquiring a subject image from the front; an observation window 10 provided to the insertion part 5, for acquiring a subject image from a side other than the front; and an image processing unit 22 that generates an image signal including a subject image from the front and a subject image from the side, and when a change in the direction in which the distal end section of the insertion part 5 is facing, with respect to the lengthwise axial direction of the insertion part 5, is detected, performs processing so as to modify the image signal of the subject image taken from the side. |
