PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the possibility of retrieving a target file at high speed without requiring a large memory area.SOLUTION: A file management device includes a plurality of clusters and retrieves a file from a directory which stores a directory entry in the respective cluster. The file management device records the cluster number to which the directory entry having succeeded in retrieval belongs on a search-results database for the respective directory, and starts a retrieval from a cluster of the cluster number recorded on a search-results database when retrieving a file from a directory. |
