In one aspect there is a method of setting up a load measuring sensor 8 on an aircraft 102, wherein the loads are to be measured using a calibrated sensor set under the control of a control unit 16, located on the aircraft, using calibration data associated with the sensor. A unique code, identifying the sensor set, is retrieved. A remote database 218 is interrogated using said code to retrieve calibration data which is transmitted to the control unit. In a second aspect at least three load measuring sensor sets are calibrated, for use on different respective aircraft, wherein the sensor set is interrogated, the sensor set is calibrated when integrated to produce calibration data which is stored in a database. In a third aspect a group of transducer sets is managed, wherein each transducer set is an optical fibre based set with a Fibre Bragg Grating arrangement, providing optical signature characteristics that are unique compared to the other transducer sets, wherein each transducer set is calibrated, producing calibration data and recording said data and data representing the unique optical signature characteristic of the transducer set in a database. |
