A damping device (10) has a pin member (20) inserted in a slidable manner through a cylindrical case member. The bottom (64) of the case member has: a hole forming section (65) in which an insertion hole (66) is formed, the insertion hole (66) allowing the pin member (20) to be inserted therethrough; and a slit for allowing the hole forming section (65) to be expanded and deformed. The outer peripheral surface of the pin member (20) and/or the inner peripheral surface of the hole forming section (65) has formed thereon a tapered section tilted relative to the axial direction. The movement of the pin member (20) in the direction in which the pin member (20) is pressed into the insertion hole (66) from the inside of the case member causes the outer peripheral surface of the pin member (20) and the inner peripheral surface of the hole forming section (65) to slide on each other along the tapered section, and as a result, the insertion hole (66) is expanded. |
