Provided is a method for manufacturing, with excellent dimensional accuracy, a vehicle seat core material in which retainers are embedded in a thermoplastic resin foamed particle molding to form a single piece. This method is a method for manufacturing a vehicle seat core material formed from a foamed particle molding in which retainers coupled by a coupling member embedded along the longitudinal direction of the seat core material are arranged on both forward ends of the seat core material, the retainers being each equipped with: a pedestal portion that is embedded in the molding; a pillar portion that is coupled to the pedestal portion and extends outwardly of the molding; and a retaining portion that is provided so as to extend from the pillar portion and protrude outwardly of the molding. The method is characterized in that, at the time of or after forming the foamed particle molding, a space or a cutout that extends from the pillar portion towards the outer side in the longitudinal direction of the seat core material is formed in the portion of the molding where the pillar portion is formed and at a position outward of the pillar portion in the longitudinal direction of the seat core material. |
