发明名称 Vehicle brake
摘要
476,339. Brakes. KIRCHBACH, M. K. April 2, 1936, No. 9795. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 6, 1936.] [Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] A disc brake comprises discs 47 rotating with the vehicle wheel and alternating with discs 52 mounted in a carrier 54 which is normally free but is adapted to be fixed to the vehicle frame when the brake is to be applied by means which are independent of the brake actuating means. In the modification shown in Fig. 1 one set of discs 47 of metal rotate with bolts 48 carried by discs 45, 46 on a hub 44 rotating with the wheel axle 43. The other set of discs 52 of friction material rotate with the carrier 54 which is adapted when the brake is to be applied to be locked by a brake band 88. Needle bearings 55 are arranged between the carrier 54 and the hub 44. Discs 49 are in one with an annular part 49b and discs 49a which are adapted to be pressed apart to apply the brake by fluidpressure cylinders 56 supplied by annular duct 61 and ducts 62, 63 passing through the centre of the axle. Cooling liquid is supplied through ducts 65, 66, annular duct 67, ducts 51, openings 49c and between the plates. Each plate 47 is provided with a ring of depressions. The depressions on each disc face alternately in opposite directions. The depressions become shallower towards the outer edge of the discs in order to produce a throttling action on the liquid. The liquid escapes by annular space 91, duct 68, check valve 69 and the interior 71 of the axle to a cooling radiator. Flow of the cooling medium is induced by centrifugal force. In a further modification, Fig. 2, one set of discs 114 rotate with the drum E and wheel 91 and the other set 111 rotate with a carrier C, C<1>, C2 which is held stationary when braking takes place by braking surfaces 99, 100 engaged by a cylinder 95 mounted in a fixed part D. The carrier comprises a part C running by means of bearings 115 on the drum E and parts C<1>, C<2> carrying the friction discs connected by pins 113 with the part C to allow axial movement. The brake discs are compressed by discs 120 adapted to be moved axially by means of fluid pressure bellows mounted in the part D. In another modification the bearings 115 may be mounted on the drum E and run on the interior of the carrier C, C<1>, C<2>. Cooling liquid is introduced and drawn off from the brake by means of ducts in the fixed part D. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also comprises a construction in which the brake 99, 100 adapted to hold the carrier C, C<1>, C<2> stationary may be replaced by an internal band operated by a fluid pressure cylinder 95, Fig. 13 (Cancelled), and wedge 132 and connected to two links 139, 140 one of which is adapted to exert pressure on the band for each direction of rotation of the brake drum, due to the circumferential movement. A pin 137 in the wedge 132 allows positive release of the brake band by means of a spring 970. The discs are formed of a number of sectors. Further constructions are now contained in Specification 477,877. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
