PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a test piece for evaluating brittle crack propagation stop characteristics, capable of accurately evaluating the brittle crack propagating stop characteristics, and a method for evaluating the brittle crack propagation stop characteristics of a thick steel plate.SOLUTION: A test piece 1 used for a Charpy impact test specified by JIS Z 2242 and for evaluating brittle crack propagation stop characteristics has a notch 10 provided in the center of a front surface 11 in a length direction in the state that the test piece is attached to a Charpy impact tester. A metal structure in at least a tip part of the notch 10 is constituted of a hard structure different from that of a base metal, and 50% or more of the hard structure consists of martensite, bainite or the mixed structure thereof. |
