A plaster may be adhered to the interior of an item of footwear or hosiery, such as a shoe or sock. The plaster may comprise a spacer material layer 2 and a pliable layer 6 which may be coated with and adhesive 7 to allow it to be attached to a shoe. The layers may be laminated together using a heat sealing process and may surround an inner compartment containing gel type lubricant 4 sandwiched between plastic panels 3 and 5. The device may be shaped and sized to allow it to be selectively located in footwear or may be used in clothing such as gloves to prevent blistering.
