[Class 36] [Also in Group XL] The leads 8 of an electric discharge lamp consist of molybdenum strips lying between a quartz core 7 and a quartz tube 6 which is collapsed on to them while a pressure slightly above atmospheric is maintained in the core. The tube 6 is formed with a flange 5 by which it is sealed to the envelope, which is filled with neutral gas during the operation. The tube is formed with an enlargement 22, in which is an exhausted space through which pass thicker portions 23 of the leads. The whole seal is enclosed in a ceramic tube 4. |
