The endoscope is provided with: unit pixels 230; a plurality of dummy pixels 247 which each generate and output a dummy signal to be used for correcting a captured image signal, one dummy pixel 247 being provided for each vertical line of unit pixels 230; a determination unit 521 which determines whether the output values of dummy signals output from the dummy pixels 247 a plurality of times are each within a predetermined range; a correction data generation unit 522 which calculates a statistical value, for each vertical line, for the output values of dummy signals that the determination unit 521 has determined are within the predetermined range, and which on the basis of a calculation result obtained through the calculation, generates, for each vertical line, correction data for correcting a captured image signal; and a correction unit 523 which corrects the captured image signal on the basis of the correction data generated by the correction data generation unit 522.
