PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide rolling equipment that enables even a steel ingot material of large cross section to be rolled only with a horizontal rolling machine and a rolling method.SOLUTION: In a state that a claw member 7 keeps engagement with the peripheral edge part of the underside of a steel ingot material S mounted on a transport device 3, the peripheral edge part is lifted by raising the claw member 7 with a lifting device. The steel ingot material S is rotated centering around the peripheral edge part on the opposite side of the peripheral edge part where the claw member 7 keeps engagement out of the lower side face of the steel ingot material S. When the rotating steel ingot material S tends to turn, the steel ingot material S is received by a side guide (receiving member) 6 the receiving face of which inclines in a rotation direction of the steel ingot material S from a direction of rotation. In a state that the steel ingot material S is received, the side guide 6 is moved by a movement device in a direction away from the lifting device 8 to mount the turned steel ingot material S onto the transport device 3. The steel ingot material S mounted on the transport device 3 is transported to a horizontal rolling machine 1 to carry out rolling, and these works of turning and rolling are repeated to roll the steel ingot material S into a billet. |
