摘要 482,183. Ventilating vehicles. BUDD MANUFACTURING CO., E. G. June 25, 1937, No. 17729. Convention date, July 3, 1936. [Class 137] An air duct 12 for distributing conditioned air in a railway vehicle, has a longitudinally extending discharge opening of a width varying in accordance with the air pressure along the duct, transverse baffles being used to increase this pressure. Conditioned air entering through a grille 29 passes through a duct 12 closed at its sides in the part 12a up to a baffle 34, where a partition 26 has a sloping edge 26a forming a maximum opening 12b reaching to a baffle 42 after which a minimum opening 12c extends to the end of the car. The baffles at 34 and 42 are made of wire mesh screens 36, Fig. 2, and are angularly adjustable by supporting rods 38. The conditioned air passes over the partition 26, and through openings in a plate 18, issuing through a flared opening 30 below an electric light duct 28. The used air returns through a grille 27 to the conditioning plant. The partition 26 extends continuously along both sides of the duct 12.
