A controlling apparatus is provided for controlling a vehicle (1) including a motor (2) for traveling and an inverter (3) for driving the motor (2). The controlling apparatus includes: an obtainer (11, 12) acquiring information on a front of the vehicle (1) ; a determiner (6) judging whether the vehicle (1) is in a coasting state in a regeneration prohibited mode in which a regenerative brake is disabled or not; an estimator (7) forming, if the determiner (6) judges that the vehicle (1) is in the coasting state in the regeneration prohibited mode, an estimate of whether the coasting state in the regeneration prohibited mode is to last for at shortest a predetermined period or not on a basis of the information acquired by the obtainer (11, 12); and a controller (8) shutting down the inverter (3) if the estimator (7) estimates that the coasting state in the regeneration prohibited mode is to last for at shortest the predetermined period. |
