A car engaging apparatus has: a fixed blade that is fixed to a car door; a pivoting link that is pivotable around a link supporting shaft that is disposed on the car door; and a movable blade that is disposed on the pivoting link. A movable blade is displaced in response to the pivoting of the pivoting link between a gripping position in which spacing from a fixed blade is a predetermined spacing in a direction of movement of the car door, and a releasing position that is further away from the fixed blade than the gripping position. A gripping driving apparatus includes a pivoting lever that is pivotable around a lever supporting shaft that is disposed on the car door, a coupling member that makes the pivoting lever and the pivoting link operate interdependently with each other, and a cam that is fixed relative to the car doorway, and that pivots the pivoting lever that is moved together with the car door. The pivoting link and the pivoting lever operate interdependently with each other such that a direction of pivoting of the pivoting link around the link supporting shaft and a direction of pivoting of the pivoting lever around the lever supporting shaft are identical directions. |
