<p>473,632. Carriers for golf clubs. VENMORE, J. A. J. April 24, 1936, No. 11675. [Class 132 (ii)] A holder for a single golf club comprises a rigid tube 10, Fig. 1, to receive the shaft of the club, the tube being provided at one end with an openable nest 12 to receive the club head. The tube is formed of metal or of paper impregnated with a synthetic resin and may be telescopic. The nest is attached to the tube and is formed of sheet metal covered with leather and lined with plush, leather or other material. The nest is closed by a cover 13 of flexible, waterproof material attached at 18 and secured by a press button 20. Alternatively, the cover may be situated at the side of the nest and may be secured by a sliding-clasp fastener or be sprung over the club head. A number of the holders may be clipped, hooked or strapped to an ordinary golf bag. Preferably, the holders are connected by a pair of bands, Fig. 4, each formed of a single strip of metal and having loops 24 ... 27 that take around annular recesses 21, 22 in the tube. After assembling, the ends 29 of the strips are secured by soldering, riveting or buckling. Looped strips may be secured across the bands to retain additional holders. The holders thus assembled may have the usual handles, ball pocket, &c. attached to them, or they may be inserted as a unit into an ordinary golf bag.</p> |
