摘要 A power system may include an internal combustion engine, an exhaust gas recirculation system, a selective catalytic reduction system, and an engine control module. The internal combustion engine includes a plurality of combustion cylinders and a plurality of corresponding intake valves for controlling a flow of air from an intake into the cylinders. The engine control module is configured to adjust a closure timing of the intake valves based on at least one engine parameter and optimization of an operational cost of the power system. A method for controlling the power system may include recirculating a portion of an exhaust flow, injecting a reductant into the exhaust flow, and adjusting a closure timing of the intake valves based on at least one engine parameter and optimization of an operational cost of the power system.

A power system, comprising: an internal combustion engine having a plurality of combustion cylinders and a plurality of corresponding intake valves for controlling a flow of air from an air intake into the cylinders; an exhaust gas recirculation system configured to recirculate a portion of an exhaust gas flow exiting the cylinders back into the air intake; a selective catalytic reduction system configured to inject a reductant into the exhaust gas flow; a variable valve actuation system having a plurality of valve actuators for variably controlling a closure timing of the intake valves; and an engine control module configured to adjust the closure timing of the intake valves based on at least one engine parameter and optimization of an operational cost of the power system; wherein the engine control module maintains a current closure timing of the intake valves when a ratio of a fuel consumption to a reductant consumption is maintained within an optimum window dictated by a NOx emission requirement.
