Disclosed is a method for operating a base station (1), according to which the base station (1) is provided with map data comprising routes that can be taken by a vehicle in the area surrounding the base station (1). The routes that can be taken by the vehicle are sub-divided into route sections (9, 11). A path (5, 7) is calculated for each route section in accordance with the map data, each path comprising a horizon route extending beyond the respective route section (9, 11). The base station (1) provides each vehicle or vehicles located in a respective route section (9, 11) with the path (5, 7) that is assigned to the respective route section (9, 11). Also disclosed is a corresponding control device.
