483,130. Valve closures. GRAINGER, J. E., and CRAIG, G. W. Sept. 13, 1937, No. 24880. [Class 135] A valve closure of the kind in which the valve member has an annular seating face and a hollow cylindrical ported extension forming a piston valve or sleeve sliding in or upon a cylindrical guide, has the guide formed as a removable sleeve. This sleeve 3 has an annular seat 4 at one end and an internal flange adjacent this seat closely fitting the cylindrical part of the valve, and an annular cavity in the sleeve extending over an area of the sleeve equal at least to half that of the cylindrical valve member. The sleeve may have a second flange 3b at the bottom so that any gritty matter entrained in the fluid is delivered to the centre of the hollow valve and is thus able to pass through the ports.
