The scanning endoscope system according to the present invention has: an optical fiber for guiding illumination light supplied from a light source unit and emitting the illumination light from an end part of the optical fiber; an actuator unit for pivoting the end part of the optical fiber and thereby shifting an irradiation position of the illumination light emitted through the optical fiber; a drive signal generating unit for generating and supplying a drive signal for driving the actuator unit; an electric current measurement unit for measuring, as an electric current measurement value, the electric current value of the drive signal supplied from the drive signal generating unit to the actuator unit; and a control unit for performing control for switching the amplitude value of the drive signal from a first amplitude value to a second amplitude value when the electric current measurement value is detected to gradually change and reach a first threshold value, and the control unit switching the threshold value for detection of the electric current measurement value from a first threshold value to a second threshold value. |
