A wire housing protector having a novel structure is provided which can achieve both increased wire housing capacity by having a more compact lock mechanism and also facilitates recognition of proper engagement of the lock mechanism. In this wire housing protector (10), the lock mechanism includes an elastic projecting piece 36 having an engagement protrusion 38 on the leading end, and an elastic projecting piece insertion hole 22 having an engagement part 28 that engages with the engagement protrusion 38. The elastic projecting piece 36 is inserted into the elastic projecting piece insertion hole 22 while the leading end of the elastic projecting piece 36 is pressed towards the side opposite of the projection of the engagement protrusion 38, and, by elastic return of the elastic projecting piece 36, the engagement protrusion 38 and the engagement part 28 engage so that a lid 16 is held relative to the protector main body 12.
