An O-ring seal consists of an elastomeric core (1) and sheathing surrounding the core, the sheathing preferably consisting of two shell-type, thermoplastically-coated PTFE films (3, 4). The films are sealingly connected to each other in the region (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) of their overlap, by means of the welding together of their thermoplastic coatings in a laser transmission welding process. The sheathing is not connected to the elastomeric core (2). |
