A method for manufacturing a structural component is provided. A base member is formed such that the base member comprises at least two sidewalls and a space therebetween. The base member is hot stretch formed so that the base member has a predetermined curvilinear configuration. At least one reinforcing member is linear friction welded to the at least two sidewalls so that the reinforcing member is positioned at least partially within the space between the at least two sidewalls.
