a detection unit configured to detect a heat source; a control unit configured to cause the image forming apparatus to shift into the first power state from the second power state if a detection result satisfies a predetermined return condition that causes the image forming apparatus to return to the first power state from the second power state; a display unit configured to display a screen to accept a user operation to change the return condition, and a changing unit configured to change the return condition based on the accepted user operation.
