摘要 Disclosed herein are a variety of systems and methods for eliciting cutaneous sensations using electromagnetic radiation. In one embodiment, an optical stimulation system is configured to induce a cutaneous sensation in a user of an electronic device based upon a tactile application executable on the electronic device. The optical stimulation system may include an interface component configured to selectively direct the output of the stimulation system onto a target area of skin of the user. A controller may be configured to generate a control signal to cause the stimulation system to modify one or more characteristics of the output of the stimulation system in order to induce a cutaneous sensation based on detection of a registration mark associated with tissue to be stimulated, a representation of a simulated object, and a stimulation profile representing the simulated object.
