An apparatus (300) includes a conductor (305) configured to transport a signal (110), a male connector (315) surrounding at least a portion of the conductor, and a load ring (310) configured to secure the conductor. The apparatus also includes a female connector (320, 420) including an annular end (321, 421) forming a cavity configured to receive the load ring in a first portion of the cavity and at least a portion of the male connector in a second portion of the cavity. Sidewalls of the first portion of the cavity are configured to create a compressive radial force (450) on an outer surface of the load ring to reduce hoop stress resulting from radially-offset longitudinal forces on the load ring. |
