The invention relates to a tangential separator (TS) for separating sedimentable particles from a liquid fluid. The tangential separator comprises a container (1) with at least one fluid inlet (20) for supplying the fluid into the container (1), at least one fluid outlet (21) for discharging fluid out of the container (1), and at least one removal point (9) for removing particles. The TS is characterized in that the fluid inlet (20) and the fluid outlet (21) are arranged in the upper region of the container (1) while the removal point (9) is arranged in the lower region of the container (1). Furthermore, at least one annular gap (4) is provided which is connected to the fluid inlet (20) such that the fluid can be introduced into the annular gap (4). The annular gap (4) is open towards the bottom, and fluid can flow out of the annular gap (4) into at least one central standpipe (11) of the container (1) in the open region, wherein liquid fluid can be discharged out of the standpipe via the fluid outlet (21). The volume within the at least one standpipe (11) is larger than the volume within the at least one annular gap (4), and means are provided for accelerating and tangentially supplying the liquid fluid into the annular gap (4). |
