A mobile terminal and a method of controlling same. The mobile terminal comprises a terminal body (1), a control module (3) and a touch structure (2). A touch area is formed on the surface of the terminal body (1). The touch structure (2) is located within the space extending from the surface of the terminal body (1) to the interior of the terminal body (1), and the vertical projection of the touch structure (2) on the surface of the terminal body (1) is located within the touch area. The touch structure (2) comprises a touch recognition module (21); the touch recognition module (21) is used for detecting a gesture operation of a user within the touch area; and the control module (3) is used for determining a key operation command according to the gesture operation and controlling the terminal body (1) to execute the key operation command. |
