PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear actuator, which is capable of achieving both of thrust improvement and miniaturization at a high level, and an electronic component mounting apparatus using the linear actuator.SOLUTION: A linear actuator includes: a hollow external cylinder; a plurality of hollow coils that are inserted into the inside of the external cylinder and are adjacent to each other in an axial direction of the external cylinder; a motor shaft inserted into the inside of the hollow coils and provided with a large number of magnets arranged in the axial direction; coupling members coupled to end parts of the motor shaft; guide shafts fixed to the external cylinder, inserted into the coupling members, and exist while extending in the axis direction; an output shaft coupled to the coupling members; and a control part for selectively magnetizing the hollow coils to thereby relatively move the hollow coils and the motor shaft in the axial direction and relatively move the external cylinder and the output shaft in the axial direction, wherein the motor shaft is provided with the magnets in a range longer than length of the hollow coils in the axial direction. |
