Humidifying apparatus comprises a base (70, fig 7) having a chamber, a water tank 120 removably mounted on the base for supplying water to the chamber, a motor 92 driven impeller 90 generating an air flow, an inlet duct conveying the air flow to the chamber, a piezoelectric transducer humidifying means 156 humidifying the air flow with water from the chamber, an outlet duct conveying the humidified air flow from the chamber, and a lower surface 128 of the water tank that supports the water tank on the base comprises a recessed portion 128b receiving water overflow from the chamber. The water in the chamber may be irradiated by an ultraviolet radiation generator (lamp). The recessed portion may be arcuate and extends along at least 50 percent of the lower surface. The recessed portion and base may define an overflow chamber having a volume of at least 160ml. An internal surface of the water tank may comprise an arcuate raised portion 128c corresponding to the recessed portion and a feeder trough 128d lower than the raised portion when the tank is mounted on the base. An outlet of the water tank may be located in the trough. |
