A building board 1, comprises upper and lower laminar sheets 2, 4, the sheets being joined by a series of transverse, longitudinally extending ribs 6. The ribs form an internal box structure within the board, wherein the ribs comprise a plurality of pairs of ribs. The ribs in each pair are spaced apart by a first, relatively short, distance corresponding substantially to a cut-width (eg. a saw-width) (C) by which the panel may be cut longitudinally through the upper and lower sheets between the ribs of a selected rib pair. Each pair of ribs is preferably equi-spaced from an adjacent pair of ribs by a second, relatively large, distance. The fluted board preferably has a unitary construction of extruded plastics material. The pairs of evenly-distributed ribs define possible cut sites (C) between the ribs of each pair and the board may be cut into a wide variety of specific widths as desired, without any significant wastage and whilst maintaining the structural integrity of the edge regions of the cut board sections. A method of preparing a building board is also claimed. |
