488,529. Invalids' beds. MURRAY, J. L. W. Dec. 13, 1937, No. 34419. [Class 52 (ii)] In an invalid bed having angularly adjustable sections, the leg-rest section 8 or the thigh-rest section 6, or both, consists or consist of two independently adjustable sections, the adjusting means comprising transverse spindles 23, 24, Fig. 3, having right- and left-handed screwthreads, nuts 26 and crossed levers 27 pivoted together at 28 and having at their upper ends rollers or bearings 29 which slide on cross rods 16 attached to the sections. The screwed spindles are operated by hand wheels 25, or by a key. Similar mechanism adjusts the backrest section 4. The thigh-rest sections and leg-rest sections are pivoted on the same axis 10, and the side members of the leg-rest sections 8 are arranged under the side members of the thigh-rest sections 6 so that'the latter sections can be lifted by the leg-rest sections independently of the lifting mechanism of the thighrest sections. Couplings may be provided to couple together the aligned screwed rods 23, 24 of the sections. |
