[Class 39 (i)] The mosaic screen in a television tube is formed by depositing selenium particles on a backing and making the particles light sensitive with the usual coatings ; the backing may be of insulating material with a silver coating, on which the selenium is deposited, the silver between the particles being removed. In a modification the selenium particles are deposited on a silver surface, the metal between the particles removed and then the selenium removed leaving isolated elements of silver, which are oxidized and coated with caesium. The selenium may be deposited by vaporization, from a suspension in a liquid or from ointment, paste, or powdery mixture.</p> |
