摘要 Provided are: a liquid crystal alignment film which enables the manufacture of a liquid crystal display element having a rapid rate of relaxing residual charge generated upon the application of a direct-current voltage; and a liquid crystal aligning agent which can be used for the manufacture of a liquid crystal alignment film. A liquid crystal aligning agent characterized by comprising: at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of polyimide precursors each having a structural unit represented by formula (1) and polymers produced by imidizing the polyimide precursors; a sulfonic acid ester represented by formula (2); and an organic solvent. (In formula (1), X1 represents a tetravalent organic group; Y1 represents a bivalent organic group; and R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms.) [Formula 2] R2-SO2-OR3 (2) (In formula (2), R2 and R3 independently represent a monovalent organic group having 1-30 carbon atoms which may have a substituent, wherein R2 and R3 may be bound to each other to form a cyclic structure.)
