To provide a method for producing a fluorinated copolymer solution having good storage stability and having good dryability of a coating film when made into a coating composition. A monomer mixture comprising a fluoro-olefin (A), a monomer (B) having a crosslinkable group and a monomer (C) having no fluorine atom and no crosslinkable group, is polymerized in the presence of an organic solvent and a compound having a piperidyl group represented by the formula (1), wherein the molar ratio of the total molar amount of piperidyl groups contained in the compound having a piperidyl group to the total molar amount of monomers in the monomer mixture, is from 0.00105 to 0.00380: In the formula (1), each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 which are independent of one another, is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or a hydroxy group, and Y is a hydrogen atom, an oxy radical group, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryl group or a hydroxy group. |
