PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulator capable of performing subcarrier generation and modulation simultaneously, and an optical modulation device using the same.SOLUTION: An input optical port 11 is optically connected to an optical amplitude modulation part 12, which is connected optically to an optical phase modulation part 13, which is optically connected to an output optical port 14. Further, an electric signal generation part 15 is electrically connected to an electric phase modulation part 16, the output of which is electrically connected to the optical amplitude modulation part 12. A part corresponding to an optical modulator comprises the input optical port 11, the optical amplitude modulation part 12, the optical phase modulation part 13, and the output optical port 14. Light input to the input optical port 11 has two subcarriers generated by the optical amplitude modulation part 12, and opposite-phase parts are modulated at the same time. The two subcarriers have in-phase parts modulated by the optical phase modulation part 13 successively and are output from the output optical port 14. |
