PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visible near infrared light shielding black material having shield capability, superior to a conventional black material in visible light and near infrared light area, and appropriate for a use such as a light shielding film for a solid state imaging device, and also to provide a visible near infrared light shielding black material fluid dispersion, a visible near infrared light shielding black resin composition, a visible near infrared light shielding black film, a base material having a visible near infrared light shielding black film, and a solid state imaging device, employing the above black material.SOLUTION: A visible near infrared light shielding black material includes metal particles whose average particle diameter is 1-300 nm. In a fluid dispersion in which the metal particles are dispersed at a proportion of 0.0005 vol.%, absorbance with an optical path length of 10 mm satisfies: (1) average absorbance at wavelength 400-1300 nm is 0.8 or more, (2) absorbance at wavelength 555 nm is 0.8 or more, and (3) absorbance at wavelength 1300 nm is 0.3 or more. A black material fluid dispersion, a black resin composition, a black film, a base material having a black film, and a solid state imaging device employ the black material. |
