The essence of the device for increasing the capacity of safety spillways in high water structures is the fact that the solid bottom structure (1) is equipped with the vertically mobile superstructure (2) which, in the closed position, corresponds to the shape of the original solid bottom structure (1) due to its curved shape. The mobile superstructure (2) consists of the steel structure equipped with the skin plate and travels (4) on the fixed bottom structure (1), while the mobile superstructure (2) is equipped with the seal (3) on the upstream side. The mobile superstructure (2) is equipped with the control mechanism (5) consisting of at least one hydraulic cylinder and a locking mechanism for maintaining the structure in the upright or reclined position.
