PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer flocculant which has high solubility to water or a water-containing solvent, where large-sized and highly strong flocks can be formed by high surface active performance, where filtration speed is high and where a cake being excellent in filter cloth peelability and having a low water content can be formed.SOLUTION: In a polymer flocculant containing a vinyl alcohol-based polymer containing a monomer unit having a polyoxyalkylene group: the polyoxyalkylene group contains a block denoted as formula (I); the constituent unit of the block is 50 mol% or more to the polyoxyalkylene group; the monomer unit having the polyoxyalkylene group is 0.05 mol% or more and 10 mol% or less to the monomer unit of the vinyl alcohol-based polymer; and the vinyl alcohol-based polymer has a saponification degree of 40 mol% or more and 99.99 mol% or less and a viscosity average polymerization degree of 150 or more and 5,000 or less. |
