A mask with cushion that has an outer film is disclosed. The film may be self-skinning or a film formed about or glued to the cushion body. In another form the cushion may be formed with at least a portion having a plurality of adjacent voids having honeycomb-like structure.

1. A cushion for a patient interface adapted to supply gas to a patient comprising:
an inner cushion body having a cutout at a nasal region of the inner cushion body; and an outer sealing sheath in use adapted to engage around or adjacent the inner cushion body to retain the inner cushion body adjacent a mask hollow body, wherein the outer sealing sheath deforms substantially independently of the inner cushion body, and wherein the cutout defines a gap between the nasal region of the inner cushion body and the mask hollow body when the inner cushion body is retained adjacent the mask hollow body by the outer sealing sheath.
