a plurality of pixels; a readout circuit configured to read out pixel signals from the pixels; an AD converter configured to provide the pixel signals with an AD conversion so as to output image data; and a controller configured to control the AD converter so that the AD converter outputs the image data at a first resolution in a case where the pixel signals are not higher than a threshold level, and outputs the image data at a second resolution lower than the first resolution in a case where the pixel signals are higher than the threshold level, wherein the controller changes the threshold level depending on a predetermined condition.
