Improved systems and methods for delivering CATV content over a fiber optic network from a transmitter. The transmitter preferably includes a combining network that combines CATV signals received from a CATV head end. Analog content received at the headend may be converted into digital codewords and output as a digital output, and digital content received at the headend may be encoded into a spectral representation of a modulated RF waveform, also output as a digital output. The digital outputs may be summed into a high speed digital signal, converted in to an optical digital broadband transmission, and output to a node.
