[Class 111] A sedimentation tank is provided with a central vertical feed pipe surrounded by a feed box 10, Figs. 1 and 4, the top of which forms a platform 14 having a central flexible too-step bearing 15. The bearing supports a shaft 27 depending from a cross-bridge comprising girders 16 carrying a gangway 37. The crossbridge has projecting members 25 provided with rollers 26 which run on a circular track 24 on the platform 14. The girders at their outer ends are connected to a ring 17 adapted to be rotated through reduction gear, by a motor 18. Scrapers 28 are carried by arms 29 depending from the cross-bridge. The driving ring 17 may be omitted in which case one end of the bridge is supported on a fixed rail and carries the motor which drives a wheel running on the rail. In a modification shown in Fig. 6, the central toe-step bearing is dispensed with, and the bridge is held in place radially by tangent rollers 47, 48 supported by the bridge. Rollers 26, 45 are supported on the circular track 24. The positions of the track 24 and the rollers 26, 45 may be reversed so that the track is supported by the bridge, the rollers 26, 45 and also the tangent rollers 47, 48 being carried by brackets fixed to the platform 14.
