499,357. Centrifugal blowers. TUGWOOD, R. J. (Daimler-Benz Akt.-Ges.) July 4, 1938, No. 19774. [Class 110 (i)] In order to supply low-pressure air for cooling a Diesel engine and high-pressure air for scavenging or charging, the centrifugal blower has in a common rotor both vane elements 8, Fig. 1, for the former supply and tubular elements 9 for the latter. The elements 8 have thickened edges at their inlet ends, and the elements 9 have a flat cross-section and are curved and splayed conically towards their outlet ends where they project beyond the vanes 8. The vanes 8 lead to a low-pressure passage 5 and the tubes 9 to a high-pressure passage 13<1>. Grooves 11 are provided in the surface of the flared inlet 10. The high- and low-pressure spaces 13, 5<1> may be sealed by extending the elements between the walls 14, 15, Fig. 3, and providing a labyrinth seal 12 consisting of coacting grooves of triangular cross-section.
|
