This fuel cell (10) is provided with: a fuel electrode (20); an air electrode (50); and a solid electrolyte layer (30) disposed between the fuel electrode (20) and the air electrode (50). The air electrode (50) includes, as a main component, a perovskite-type oxide which is represented by the general formula ABO3, and which includes La and/or Sr at A sites. The air electrode (50) is provided with a surface region (52) which is within 5 µm from the surface (50S) at the opposite side to the solid electrolyte layer (30). The surface region (52) includes: a main phase formed from the perovskite-type oxide; and a second phase formed from strontium oxide. The area occupancy of the second phase in a cross section of the surface region (52) is at least 0.05%, but not more than 3%. |
