The application describes stabilized WRINKLED1 transcription factors, as well as nucleic acids, and expression cassettes that encode and express such stabilized WRINKLED1 transcription factors and that are useful for increasing production of oils in plants and seeds.

A transcription factor, comprising at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to any of SEQ ID NOs:1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 59, 60, 61, 63, 65, or 67, where the transcription factor comprises a deletion of at least 10 amino acids in a domain at about amino acid positions 368-430, or with at least one amino acid substitution or amino acid deletion of a proline (P), glutamic acid (E), serine (S), or threonine (T) in a domain at about amino acid positions 368-430, compared to a corresponding wild type amino acid sequence.
