A detection system and detection method for a display panel. The display panel comprises a substrate, and several signal lines located on the substrate. The detection system for a display panel specifically comprises: electrode signal lines (11, 21) located in a display region; outward fan-out circuits (12, 22) connected to the electrode signal lines (11, 21) and arrayed in an outward fan-out manner; electrode signal input ends (13, 23) connected to the outward fan-out circuits (12, 22); test connection pads (31) connected to the electrode signal input ends (13, 23); and a signal transmitter (41) and a signal receiver (42), wherein the signal transmitter (41) transmits a signal from initial ends of the electrode signal lines (11, 21), and the signal receiver (42) receives a signal from tail ends of the electrode signal lines (11, 21) or tail ends of the test connection pads (31). By means of the detection method, a circuit disconnection or short circuit phenomenon on the electrode lines (11, 21) in the display region and the outward fan-out circuits (12, 22) outside the display region can be detected, thereby improving the current scenario whereby the circuit disconnection or the short circuit of the outward fan-out circuits (12, 22) cannot be detected, reducing the Mod horizontal light line ratio, and improving the product yield rate. |
